well, tomorrow's the day. both my final exam for all my classes and the day i get to know if i actually get to go abroad or not (due to how fast the doctors will do my testing).

i'm REALLY hoping that they don't have to do the tuberculin test because they can just already see in my previous blood tests if i have tuberculosis or not. i had a blood test just a few weeks ago so i'm reaaally hoping... i have my eyeglasses prescription from the glasses shop so they don't have to check my eyes. nothing's ever been wrong with my breathing or blood pressure or hearing. but even if all that stuff is fine, they still have to do the hearing test and i'm not sure they know they have to do it. i'm hoping that if they're not prepared for the hearing test i can just force them into saying my hearing is normal (it's not like this is an official medical report, it's just a basic "you're healthy enough to go abroad" paper)...

i requested an appointment at a private clinic hoping they could get me one earlier than the appointment at the normal clinic... nope. they haven't even responded to me to give me a time yet!!

in other news i found out a REALLY good OCR app for japanese (it also works for chinese and english but i haven't tested how good it is). it's called simply "OCR", there's a paid and a free version. i have no idea if you even get any special features on the paid version aside from no ads, but even the free version could 100% accurately OCR tiny text i took in a pretty dark room, that other OCR apps couldn't do even in strong daylight! i've tried it on manga and books and videogame screenshots and stuff now, it works great on anything that has enough contrast between the background and letters (ex. normal paper), but it has a hard time with rainbow text and text on computer screens (though the rainbow text was also on a computer screen so who knows). it filters out anything that's not letters, so ex. it filters out emoji text so you don't get a bunch of garbled characters.

this is definitely an app i'm gonna use ALL the time when i'm in japan!! i mean, i can just OCR all my textbooks and flyers and stuff and look up all the words easily, and what's more, it means i can read even small fonts!
